Pompasetting Like Its My Birthday....Cause It Was...

Saturday, December 20, 2014

Hey lovelies!!

Last weekend was my first time at a fashion event , as a new fashion designer. Plus it was my birthday weekend so i felt like getting extra fly and fabulous by wearing something original, of course.

The event was great and it gave me some ideas and inspiration on how I can carry my brand, name and designs to the next level. And I was proud to see all the talent we have in Barbados be recognized. My dream is to someday be fabulous enough and bold enough to take part in something so fantastic.

But for right now I have a long ways to go but I know that I'm going to/ I have to get there.

However, before I attended the event, I wanted to take some pictures with my friend to show off some of the things I made.

Well compared to what I saw that night, my stuff is very normal and not at all extravagant haute couture or anything of the sort.

Check us out!!

SEASONS GREETINGS

Today I'm stepping it up a notch. We have a Kayenar Designs white jersey patchwork dress.

You guys are probably familiar with my story, so of course you know that before it became a dress it was a skirt and another dress that i no longer fancied.

So I undid both of them and made a plain white dress with cap sleeves and a twist.

But my favourite part of the outfit are my SHOES!!!

The very first time I saw my babies I fell in love , they are just so frickin GORGEOUS!!

As you can tell, I am an every colour kinda girl so these are perfect for me.

Diva Status...

Sunday, November 16, 2014

Good day lovies!!

New on the blog, patchwork at a minimum. Simple plain black spandex skirt with a jersey crop top and sheer sleeves.

The patchwork  on the sleeves was unintentional as I used fabric left over from making a printed jersey skirt and the back and sleeves were also from remaining fabric from other pieces.

Why am i telling you this? I just thought you should know that patchwork is like my best friend. I can solve any problem with patchwork especially those projects that never go according to plan. But the results are just as good as the initial plan I had in mind.

What do you think?

Pearls and Lace

Thursday, July 17, 2014

Happy summer lovelies!

I apologise for the inconsistency in my posts but I am currently working from my little itty bitty tablet, so posting every week is a bit challenging.

However, today i'm giving you fancy.
Pearls and Lace.

I don't always work with denim, and my designs are just as fabulous. I must admit :)

Today's post is an off-white stretch lace piece with a high split to the front for a little bit of sexy.
You probably would not believe me when I say that this piece is also a recycled/repurposed piece. Yep I kid you not.

So believe me when I say that you never know what you're about to throw away because it just might turn into a treasure.

I should've taken before pics as evidence. But the bottom of this piece was constructed from a pants while the top was a very unattractive lace piece that I knew I was never going to wear.

I am truly proud of this dress as well as the pearl belt  that I also restored. Its not as fabulous and detailed as the original but its just as nice.

I fashioned this belt from my grandmother's closet. It is truly vintage but unfortunately I could not use it as is because the cotton holding the pearls had reached their limit so I had the displeasure of taking out the pearls of that beautiful belt. But it was worth it.

So today I leave you with this, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and what one person considers as beautiful will not be the same for all.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post,
Until next time

Denim Shorts!

Wednesday, June 04, 2014

Hey lovelies,

Happy June! Summer is basically here and since the days are getting hotter its a good time to bust out the shorts!

And obviously I have the best shorts in the world just cause they are so unique to me. I am very proud of them.
My patchwork denim shorts! :D

They came out so cute not to mention breathable and roomy, which is very important for a butt and legs like mine. Hehe. I can sit, run, jump and skip comfortably without worrying about what that little extra fat is doing.

It wasn't long before I was photobombed by my cat (Biggie Irie). Lol. Well at least he wasn't licking himself.

Hope you enjoyed this post

Denim Cap

Friday, April 25, 2014

Hey lovelies,

It been a minute since my last post. Hope everyone is having a fabulous day!!

Today I share my latest project. And by now I think you all know I am a denim and recycling freak/fanatic. So of course this hat is patchwork denim ( of course).
I took apart an old visor and saved the peak and the sponge inside for the head area and began constructing my cap.

I cut six sections for the top of the hat in a kinda curved tapered pattern. Sowed them together attached them to the peak, with some extra cuts and stiches and ....

Voila!...a denim patch hat/cap.

Hope you guys liked my short post,
Until next time (hopefully soon),
xoxo Kei!

More Patchwork!!

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

Hey lovelies!

Its been a while since I posted, and it seems like time is just flying by, its a bit scary :s

Well today I want to share my latest project and I hope you guys aren't getting tired of my patchwork.

But I love it!

Today i'm gonna show you my latest patchwork top with a full peplum and a sweetheart neckline.

What I like most about this top is how dramatic and full the flare is, and it looks even better when I add a belt to define my waist.

And for some added 'funkiness', I purposefully sewed the patchwork with white thread and added an open zipper to the top of the bodice. And included boning for some structure.

Can you guess what I used as my boning!?..

Some old wires for an adapter I was no longer using!! That's right, I reuse and recycle! And you would have never known. Lol

I was trying to be all dramatic and modelesque posing on these ancient chairs.i like them though they add some grunge to the pic. But I had hell getting in and out of that chair. Haha!

I am giving you Kayenar flava hunty!!

Anyhuz, hope you enjoyed my post!
Keep smiling and until next time lovelies,
XOXO
Kei
