DIY: From Tshirt to colourful Maxi Dress

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Hey guys,

I'm here to show you guys another DIY I did a while ago. Now I made this before I made this blog so I would not be able to explain it step by step (i have no more shirts to cut) but I think its pretty straight forward so you guys should be able to understand with the instructions I provide.

So let's get started. For illustration sake i will use a very old plain white T to explain.

Things you'll need:

  1. 3 plain old t shirts (can be of different colours)
  2. 1 vest (preferably the colour of one of the tshirts)
  3. scissors
  4. needle and thread/ sewing machine

STEP 1: Take each t shirt and cut straight across, under the sleeves.

STEP 2: Then take the bottom piece that you just cut off and cut them into 3 equal length pieces.

STEP 3: Arrange the strips so that they form a pattern, or you can arrange them however you want.

STEP 4: Sew each strip to each other.

STEP 5: Take the vest and cut it as a crop top

STEP 6: Sew the sewn strips onto the vest that you have just cut OR you can even leave the strips as a maxi skirt and place an elastic band around the top.

But here is the finished product!
A brand new colourful maxi dress!

Hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial!
Until next time

DIY: Make a cute top from old stockings

Friday, July 26, 2013

Buenos Dias mi amigos!

So today I would like to show you guys how took some of my old stockings and made a cute top. I got this idea from ItsMyRayeRaye (Check her out on Youtube), and I thought it was a good idea so I decided to give it a try and show you guys my results.

Now I did this with very light stockings but you can also do this with some old leggings or heavier stockings. All you need are the stockings/ leggings and a scissors.

So let's get started!

STEP 1: These are my stockings, and as you can see they are very light almost like sheer. But they are the only ones I could find.

STEP 2:  Put the legs together and cut off the bottom, so that you can fit your hands in when you are ready put it on.

STEP 3: Now open the stockings and cut the crotch. This is where your head will go. Remember the bigger the cut the deeper the neck of the top.

STEP 4: I cut off the end so it wouldn't be so tight.

STEP 5: Wear your cute new top!

Now because I used stockings they began to run when I was putting it on but they are still wearable. But I may only be able to get 2 wears out of these.

Haha the puppies wanted to be in the pic too #puppylove

I paired my new top with these DIY shorts and my orange Toms.

Hope you liked the top and you can give it a try.

In My Tiny Closet:Print Pants

Friday, July 26, 2013

I found these print pants at a flea market a while back for only $5!! I was a bit hesitant in buying them because I wasn't sure if they would fit right, but I could NOT pass up this deal so I bought them. I am so glad that I did because they fit great, a bit tight in some areas but nothing a little diet and exercise can't fix.

Now the hard part was finding something to pair it with because it didn't look so right with some of the stuff I had in my closet.

So here I paired these fabulous pants with a denim top I made and a plain white blazer.
I thought wedges would make it look more chic. I'm wearing some Bertini wedges and some simple jewellery along with a denim clutch I made.

Hope you like it!

Movie Reviews

Tuesday, July 09, 2013

.

Last night I watched a few movies; an animation a comedy and a 'drama?'.

The Croods was a refreshingly hilarious animation that is fit for all ages. (I loved it and I am 21 lol). It is centered around a family of cave people who are for the most part afraid to experience the light but are forced from their cave because of the shifting if the Earth's plates and with the help of a new friend the family gets help with the shift.

So check it out. A definite must see. I would say it was up there with Despicable Me and you guys know that that is the animation of the year.

Spring Breakers on the other hand was definitely not what I expected especially with the cast they had.(Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, etc). In my opinion it was a horrible action/drama? ....movie. It didn't have any set story line and the script and acting was poor. Not to mention all the constant cursing was a turn-off especially from the girls. Definitely not worth the watch. On the plus side James Franco's make-up made him very unrecognisable so kudos to hair and make-up. This movie was weird and definitely not in a good way.

Then to recover from that awful movie (lol) I had to watch Admission starring the funny Tina Fey and Paul Rudd. It was a nice comedy with the right amount of drama. The story followed Portia (Fey) as an admissions officer for Princeton Univeristy where she came across an applicant she believed to be her son she gave up for adoption. Very nice movie. Recommended watch.

Anyhus that is all for my movie review.

Hope you are having a Happy Tuesday!

#BEAHAMELESS

Thursday, July 04, 2013

Bonjour mon amis!

Today in all my shamelessness I went to the beach alone and a strange man campe up to me (0.o like why dude). So instead of ignoring him I decided to engage in some conversation which btw was hella inappropriate. He did NOT get the hint, and I thought I was doing a good job at telling him that I was not imterested in getting to know him in an intimate way. The guy asked me where I lived, if I come go the beach every thursday, if he can have my number, if I had a boyfriend. I was really trying not to be rude so I smiled the whole time while telling him no I am not interested and I cant give you my number. Homeboy ( who btw seems to be pushing 60) was polite but crazy annoying. So he gave me his number which I took (deleting...now!) and lied and say that I will call him...shame he will be waiting in vain.
This is one of THEE main reasons I dont like to go anywhere by myself. I know that is how you make new friends and blah blah blah but alot of strange men seem to think that I want and I need to talk to them in that way n most of them arent even cute :(  Most of the time I'm like thanks for the compliment now u can go (i know that sounds rude lol).
But in the words from Shameless Maya
(check her out on YouTube) if you are afraid to do it, do it! #BESHAMELESS!

Kei..out! Xoxo

Where does the time go...

Wednesday, July 03, 2013

Salut!!

It is ridiculous how quickly the days are flying by. It was just monday and i was sleeping over by a friends house and now it is Wednesday evening and i can't believe it.

Nowadays you have to manage your time wisely and make sure you are doing what you want to do and that you are happy and content with your life.

I recently came across a youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/shamelessmaya/featured) who has been very inspirational. So check her out!

I'm still on the path of finding my place and how i can make a difference and be the best person that I can be. But I know that with God's love i will find my way and life a happy life with the people i love.

So for right now I'm going to enjoy the little things i take for granted and continue to dance in the summer sun!
