DIY:His Shirt, Her Skirt

Sunday, January 19, 2014

Hey lovelies!!

I just realised I haven't posted anything for the new year and Janurary is almost over. But never mind that, for I am here! With a new simple and easy diy project.

Does your dad/brother/boyfriend/friend have t shirts or polo shirts ready to be thrown away? Save them! You can donate them...

Or

You can turn them into a cute fashionable skirt.

Here we will take an old but not too old male shirt to make our very own skirt. All you will need are:

1) A old male t-shirt. For this project I used a polo striped shirt like the one below.

2) scissors

3) An elastic band for the waist

4) A sewing machine or just needle and thread (if you don't have access to a machine)

5) pins

Firstly, laying the shirt on a flat surface and with it turned inside out, draw a horizontal line under the arm and if you would want a longer skirt, cut a little ways above this point.

Since the shirt should have some stretch we don't require alot of seam allowance.
For this step I wore the skirt and then pinned it according to my curves.

(Be sure not to pin actual body!)

After pinning I took it off and sewed the sides and cut off any access.

Then I took the elastic band (which was cut according to my waist measurements) and place it to the top of the skirt making sure to turn the skirt on the wrongside.

Take the elastic down about an inch and fold the top of the skirt over the elastic so it is covered.

Pin skirt, making sure not to pin the elastic between, then sew.

Then you're done! Your skirt is ready to wear !

Check it out!!

I also did this to another shirt and this is how I wore it. Remember if you want a longer skirt just cut the shirt above the arms and alter accordingly. I don't mind the length because iy reminds me to keep working on my legs.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY

Until next time lovies,

Seasons Greetings!!

Seasons Greetings Lovelies,

I'm back from my hiatus!Good news, school is finally over and I'm ready for 2014!!. 2013 hasn't been that bad but i'm ready for it to be over. I'm ready for new things to come, in terms of my personal life and career wise. But I still have some things to figure out.

Anyways, its been a year since my Big Chop and I couldn't be happier with my hair right now. Sometimes it still is hard for me to find styles that i like and that works for me but i'm figuring that out as it gets longer. I recently bleached it to dye it pink, but I started loving the bleach colour so I'm gonna rock it for a while then dye it pink later.

This is my length check from the front and sides

In the beginning i was kinda hesitant on the bleach because of the obvious reasons of damaging my hair. But I wanted to do something different so I took the risk. And i love it!!!

This is the first set of results

I did it probably and inch away from the root because I didn't want it to be too harsh in terms of color vs my complexion, in case I did't really like it. And there is a difference in the texture but it isn't really noticeable. Well it's weird because with the change in color i couldn't tell if the texture was the same or if it changed :/ Also one thing I've been wanting to do is straighten my hair but I don't want to use any heat yet, so i think I'm gonna wait at least a month or two before I do that. Another thing that has been really frustrating though is the completely different texture of my hair at the front of my head. It was like that even before i bleached my hair, but when i'm doing twist outs it tends to just flop over my forehead and it is really not cute. But other than that i love the overall texture of my natural hair.

Well that was kind of an update, i guess, thank you for joining me. Don't be afraid to try something new. And chances are that if it doesn't work for you, it can be fixed and its all about the experience.

So until next time
Stay Safe and Happy Holidays!!
XOXO Kei

UPDATE: Life w/out School, What Next?

Sunday, November 24, 2013

Hey guys,

So great news!! I'm almost finished at University!!!!! (praise Jah). Yes yes that is the reason for my prolonged absence (for those who were wondering). I was so miserable there, I can not wait to get out. But to be honest, it wasn't that bad because i got to meet new people and form new relationships and all that other good stuff. I got closer to some people which is a great thing. The only thing I didn't really like was actual SCHOOL. Like going to classes, doing homework and actually trying to learn something and be interested. Some stuff was boring and other subjects were fun (kinda).

I am just tired and over school, I'm not passionate as some other people who are eager to learn learn learn. When i just want to get out, out, out!! I have been going to school for about 17 years and I AM DONE!! I'm convinced that I'm just not made for school.

The bad news is that now i have to look for a job because i have responsibilities (bleh). I mean, yea i wanna make money but who likes paying bills?? Exactly no one!! but ya know that is the reason we all go to school so we can learn, get a good job and be comfortable with life and do all the things we love with the people we love. No one wants to struggle through life, unless you really like being poor or you like the struggle (which is unheard of).

But we all know everything takes time plus I still have alot of growing to do. I don't think we are ever done growing or learning, school or otherwise. But i think i'm ready to get out there. This is what we were born to do. right? I'm ready for life!! So BRING IT!!

*FIST PUMP*

So until next time

I have been busy with school and I have been trying to make my pieces, come up with other content I think you would like as well as try to keep up with my work. But its seems like I suck at effective time management AND I am a HUGE procrastinator :(.... Oh AND I have just been watching tv show after show. Its like a disease and it spreads easily. How many shows I watch you may ask?

Well including current Tv shows and the ones on hiatus I watch a grand total of....

 87 SHOWS!!

This ranges from sitcoms, scifi, drama to reality shows and I am ALWAYS up-to-date. Sigh...GUYS I have a problem, I need a life, this is so sad! Lol.

But I am going to work on it, I have alot of ideas in my head and on paper but I am having trouble getting started. That is all for now.

Until next time lovelies

Hey lovelies!! Happy September!

Its been a while since my last post, but never mind that, I am here now:). I know that for some of us (including me) September is the month that school starts (boo!!). But for the past week I have been busy coming up with new content and making some stuff for you guys to see.

Today I will show you my denim bags for back to school, my male and female version along with a purse I restored. This was all in an effort to save a little cash for back to school. And you can too!

This is the bag that I will use for school.

This is my male version

This is a purse I had for a while which started peeling. So instead of throwing it away or buying a new one, I decided to peel the whole purse, get some fabric paint and a sponge and just dabbed the colours all over the place.

Of course I could've done a more detailed stylish design but this was quick, easy and fun.

Hope you like it. Until Next time!
